After scores were level at quarter time, the Bloods kicked away to register a 9.10.64 to 4.7.31 win.

The victory (and Koroit losing to Warrnambool) sees the Bloods now in second place on the ladder.

“There was a fairly strong wind in the first quarter and they won the toss so to be able to go into the first break at 14 all was pleasing into the wind,” Terang Mortlake coach Lewy Taylor said.

“We kicked away there in the second, and then the rain came down with about 10 minutes to go in the quarter and made it a tough fight after that.”

The Bloods got out to a 36 point lead by the last change, with scoring a battle in the final term - with Cobden kicking four behinds to Terang Mortlake’s one.

“Cobden had been in pretty good form leading up to our game and always give a good contest, it was a good solid win and I was pleased with how we went about it.”

Ryley Hutchins again was best for Terang Mortlake after gathering 31 disposals and kicking three goals.

“Ryley just keeps delivering, very happy with how he’s going.

“He’s in good form and having a great year.”

Taylor had 29 possessions and eight tackles with Lachie Wareham, in his second game for the Bloods this season, having 26 disposals and was named second best.

“Lachie was huge, he played a great game which we needed; Sam Kenna was unavailable for the week but Lachie was massive in the wet.

“He was getting his hands on the ball in the ruck and getting his hands on the footy around the ground, I think he had seven tackles as well to go along with that, so it was a massive game.”

Key forward Jackson Paine also stood up for the Bloods in the win, kicking a match high four goals.

“Jacko was at his best, able to kick four and kicked a couple of points as well.

“He had three or four forward 50 tackles and put some pressure on as well, so it was sort of an all-around game from him, and a lot of others as well in the conditions.”

This week Terang Mortlake head to the Gardens Oval to take on eighth placed Port Fairy.

The reserves match saw Cobden record a 7.16.58 to 1.5.11 victory.

Oscar Curran, Matthew Baxter and Henry Carroll were best for Terang Mortlake in the loss, with Baxter kicking the lone goal.

In the under 18s, Terang Mortlake scored a 15.9.99 to 3.8.26 win.

Best for the Bloods were Max Heffernan, Mason Barr, Hamish Molan, Charlie Roberts and Cooper Herry, with Barr kicking four goals, Heffernan and Molan three each and Levi Meade two.

In the under 16s at Cobden on Sunday, the home team scored its first win of 2026, 3.10.28 to 3.7.25.

Hugh Kenna, Max Slater, Kai Crawley, Percy Vaughan and Lenny Scanlon were best for Terang Mortlake in the loss, with Kenna, Slater and Arlo Herry kicking a goal each.

Terang Mortlake scored a 4.8.32 to 0.4.4 win in the under 14 football.

Liam Kenna, Ollie Clarke and Leo Slater were best for the Bloods in the win, with Zac Clarke kicking two goals.

In the under 12s, Terang Mortlake was too strong, running out 3.7.25 to 0.0.0 winners.

Felix Harrison, Ollie Membrey, Max Moore were best for the Bloods, with Harry Heffernan kicking two goals and Morgan Primmer one.
