Carols at the Civic
THE Cobden Civic Hall will be alight with Christmas cheer next weekend as carols come to town to celebrate the holiday season.
On Sunday, December 21 from 7.30pm, there will be carols to be sung in Cobden with local artists coming together thanks to the organisation of Quota Friends of Rotary.
Quota Friends of Rotary member Fran Warden said there would be plenty of local talent ready to entertain next Sunday.
“We’ve got guest artists Toby, Demby, Madidi and Matea McKenzie and they’ll all be singing individually,” she said.
“For the first time ever at our carols they’re going to be singing as a family, so that’ll be something different for us.
“Then we’ve got Lucy and Luke and the Nostalgics as well.
“We’ll have Val Maynard singing too.
“We’ll have the Lakes and Craters Band and there’ll be plenty of singing for the public if they choose to sing along.”
Mrs Warden said they’ve been organising the carols for about 25 years and they are hoping for another great turnout this year.
“Usually there’s Christmas in Apex park but it’s at Tandarook park this year so we’re hoping people still come down after that,” she said.
“I’m sure people will enjoy it if they come along because the McKenzie family are a very talented family.
“We have supper at the end of the night if they want to stay and have a chat afterwards.
“Chris Barks lights up the civic hall and makes the hall look quite festive.
“Once we’ve done carols it feels like Christmas is really here.”
