Church’s new installation

IN the lobby of the St Patrick’s Church is a specially-crafted nativity scene, crafted by a group of friends tying the priest’s origins to his new home.

Jibin Joyan, along with Dixon Mathew, Jaison Mathew, Binto Raju, Alan Alex and Martin Babu, came together to build the scene, which includes statues of the shepherds, kings, Mary, Joseph and Jesus, Christmas lights around the display and even a small fountain.

Mr Joyan said the support of his friends, alongside Father George Kuruvila, allowed the scene to be completed as schools wrapped up for the year.

“We’re very thankful for Father George because he’s the coordinator, and with his support we’ve made this,” he said.

“This is our first time in Camperdown preparing this type of nativity scene.

“All of the church communities were very happy – the St Patrick’s Primary School students and the Camperdown College students all came and had a look and were excited with it.

“Thank you to Father George for supporting us and arranging everything.”
