Dalvui ready for a bumper night of racing
THE Terang Harness Racing Club is set to support a local not-for-profit when racing returns to Dalvui next Monday night.
The club is set to host an evening of racing on October 20 which will be headlined with a race taking on a Warrnambool theme, Terang Harness Racing Club president Chris O’Connor said.
“The main race will be the Warrnambool Seaside Harness Racing Club handicap,” he said.
“That’s the old Warrnambool club so the meeting is going to have a Warrnambool theme, so our sponsors are Warrnambool based businesses which have been very generous.
“We hope to attract some quite nice horses.
“I know the Marg Lee-trained Code Bailey (18 wins and 16 placings in 59 starts) is being entered and he’s a good horse.”
The evening will also provide an opportunity for racegoers and the club to support the Terang branch of Riding for the Disabled Association of Victoria, which provides Riding Develops Abilities programs for students.
“While the harness racing side of things will be fun, we’re also going to be raising funds for the Terang Riding for the Disabled,” Mr O’Connor said.
“Obviously, that’s a great group of volunteers who operate in Terang.
“We’re happy to be able to support them, so any raffle money or funds from our auction on the night will be raised to support their operations for the next 12 months.”
Mr O’Connor encouraged the wider community to come along and support their local races, with the first race to start from approximately 6pm.
“It’s free entry to come in, so come along and join the raffle so we can raise some money for Riding for the Disabled Terang,” he said.
“The auction item will be a share in a horse, an upfront action with no further expenses so it’s quite an attractive auction item for people.
“Rafferty’s Pick 5 Competition has also jackpot to $3000.”
