First century for Horspole

BOORCAN had an eight wicket loss to Cobden in the round 13 match of the South West Cricket division two competition.


Batting first, the Dragons were bowled out in 33.2 overs for 120.

Joseph Heffernan top scored with 39 from 43 balls hitting five boundaries, with Jack Ryan making 28 from 57.

Cobden had little trouble in the run chase, passing the score in 19.5 overs for the loss of two wickets, with young opening bowlers Alex Deane and Sam Hall taking a wicket each.

The division two Dragons finish their season tomorrow against Heytesbury-Princetown Blue at the Timboon High School ground.

A maiden century to Roger Horspole wasn’t enough to get the division three Dragons the win over Camperdown.

Horspole and Michael Carman put on an opening partnership of 127 before Carman was dismissed for 62 from 54 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes.

Horspole and teenager Bailey Carman put on 57 for the fifth wicket as Horspole brought up his first ever ton, out soon after for 101 from 75 balls - 13 fours and four sixes were included in his innings.

Bailey Carman ended up making 39 from 41 balls as the Dragons were dismissed for 228 in the 38th over.

Camperdown passed the score in the 35th over, only losing two wickets.

Tim Castle and Tony Hassett claimed one wicket each.

The division three Dragons finish their season tomorrow against Pomborneit Gold at Boorcan.

Boorcan played their final under 13 game of the season on Monday night, having a 17 run loss to Bookaar at Boorcan.

The visitors batted first, making 4/116 from their 24 overs, with Jed Gaut taking 2/7 from two overs.

In reply, Boorcan made 5/99 from their 24 overs, with Bailey Carman making 20 retired from 11 balls, Ollie Horspole 15, Jack Menz 11 and Patrick Hassett 10.

The under 13 Dragons finished the season in fifth place on the ladder, two wins from fourth.
