First loss for junior Bulls

POMBORNEIT’S under 17 boys had their first loss of the season on Tuesday night, going down to Irrewarra Black.

Batting first at Colac Secondary College Oval, Pomborneit made 7/102 from its 30 overs.

Opener Fletcher Tolland top scored with 21 from the 30 ball retirement mark, Jonty Raven made 20 retired from 30 and captain Levi Cootesmith scored 16 retired from 30.

Irrewarra’s openers smashed the way through the early overs, retiring on 56 and 35 respectively, with the home team losing their first wicket with the score on 100.

The Redbacks finished on 5/177, with Josh Reynolds leading the Pomborneit bowlers with 3/13 from four overs.

The under 17 Bulls have the bye this week and play their next game on January 20.

Pomborneit’s under 17 girls had a 59 run loss to Tomahawk Creek at Irrewillipe on Friday night.

Batting first, the Bulls struggled to score but held their wickets, making 3/37 from their 20 overs.

Isabella Wain top scored with nine.

In reply, the home team made 5/96 from its 20 overs.

Lilli Saarikallio continued her good form with the ball, taking 2/12 from four overs.

Tonight the under 17 girls play Irrewarra Black at Pomborneit in their final game before the Christmas break.

In the under 16 boys, Pomborneit lost to Cobden in a Twenty20 at South Purrumbete on Thursday night.

Batting first, the Bulls were bowled out for 68, with Jonty Raven making 13 and Bailey Fox unbeaten on 12.

Cobden took until the 19th over to pass the score, finishing on 4/80.

Josh Reynolds and Hugo Saarikallio took a wicket each.

Sunday’s scheduled under 16 game between Bookaar and Pomborneit did not eventuate, with Bookaar unable to field a team.

The match will be played on another date before Christmas.

Pomborneit’s under 14 boys had a heavy loss to Irrewarra Black on Friday night.

Irrewarra made 8/213 from its 30 overs.

In reply, Pomborneit were all out in the 26th over for 58.

Tonight the under 14 Bulls play Irrewarra Red at CSC Oval in their final game before the Christmas break.

On Monday night in the under 13 boys, Pomborneit had a 23 run win over Ecklin.

Batting first at Ecklin, Pomborneit made 5/75 from their 24 overs.

Bailey Fox top scored with 21 retired from 21 balls, with Crawford Dunn making nine.

Ecklin replied with 9/52 to give Pomborneit the win.

This Monday the under 13 Bulls play Cobden at Pomborneit in their final game before the break.

In the under 13 girls on Sunday morning, Pomborneit had a 26 run win over Irrewarra.

The Redbacks batted first, making 9/114 from 20 overs.

Pomborneit opening bowler Emily Reynolds took three wickets in the first over of the game and finished with 5/11 from four overs, all five of her wickets were bowled.

In reply Pomborneit made 9/140, with Zoe Unwin smashing 27 from 17 balls, Scarlett Saarikallio making 13 and Emily Reynolds 11.

This Sunday the under 13 girls play Colac at CMTP Oval in their final match before the Christmas break.
