Held at the guide hall, the garage sale saw a wide variety of donated goods for sale, including bric-a-brac, children’s toys, books and more.

Guide leader Glenda McIlveen said it was fantastic, with strong community support across the weekend.

“Each year, we’ve got to raise a fair bit of money just to pay the insurance and utilities for the hall,” she said.

“Having something like this, where people donated the items to sell, is amazing.

“Thank you to everyone who donated items for us to sell.

“We opened up on the Sunday also because we had so many things left over from Saturday, while having the market there was a bonus.

“It was a wet day, so people were looking for spaces to get out of the weather.”

The extra time open also proved helpful in another way, with a donation of cans and bottles to recycle gifted to the guides over the weekend.

“We had quite a lot of people through having a browse and some bought some items,” Mrs McIlveen said.

“We had some people drop off some recycling for us.

“It’s good for the community to have the fundraising in the main street area, where even if you’re driving through town you might stop in and have a look.

“It’s good for the town.”
