Harry Bee best for the Frogs

ECKLIN had a 123 run loss in its round nine Colac-South West premier cricket match against Stoneyford on Saturday.


Stoneyford skipper Dom Dare won the toss and elected to bat first at the Pirron Yallock Recreation Reserve, with the home team all out in the 47th over for 284.

Paceman Harry Bee was the best of the Frogs bowlers, continuing his good recent form with 3/46 from 10 overs, with skipper Jamie Dewell taking 3/56 from 10.

Ecklin collapsed to 6/55 in reply before some lower order resistance pushed the score to 161 all out, dismissed in the 29th over.

Bee top scored with 57 from 62 balls, hitting six fours and a six, while teenager Henry Carroll hit a run a ball 27 with five boundaries.

In this week’s Twenty20 competition, Ecklin will play Bookaar at Frederick St in the first of the knockout games.

In division two, Ecklin had a 10 wicket loss to Heytesbury-Princetown Blue.

Batting first at Ecklin, the Frogs made 9/137 from their 40 overs.

Mark Fraser top scored with an unbeaten 60 from 80 balls, hitting four boundaries, with Brendan Cook making 20.

The Storm passed the home team’s score in the 36th over without losing a wicket.

The division two Frogs go into the Christmas break in seventh position on the ladder, and will resume on January 17.

In division three, the Frogs had a 77 run loss to Boorcan at Boorcan.

The home team batted first, making 8/172.

Tim Carroll led the Frogs bowling with 2/12 from seven overs, with Patrick Sloane taking 2/23 from six.

In reply, Ecklin was bowled out for 95 in the 34th over.

Opener Kayne Marshall top scored with 30, with Carroll making 17.

The division three Frogs go into the break in fifth position on the ladder, also returning on January 17.

Last Wednesday, Ecklin’s women had a 32 run loss to Cobden Blue at Ecklin.

Blue batted first, making 2/113 from their 20 overs.

Rachel O’Keeffe was the leading bowler for Ecklin with 1/17 from four overs.

The Frogs replied with 6/81.

Melissa Benson top scored with 28 from 41 balls, while Kelly Gowland made 15 from 47.

Going into the Christmas break, the Ecklin women sit fourth on the six team ladder and will return mid-January.

In the under 13 boys on Monday night, Ecklin had a 23 run loss to Camperdown at Camperdown number two.

The home team batted first, making 2/117 from their 24 overs.

In reply, Ecklin fell short, making 9/94.

The under 13 Frogs play their next game on January 19.
