Magpies win on the road
CAMPERDOWN Magpies Bowling Club’s division one pennant team has come home from Winchelsea victorious.
The team travelled to Winchelsea for the second week in a row to take on Winchelsea’s other division one team and this time the Magpies came home with a 21 shot win, 104-83.
Brad Errock’s rink of Jamie Norton, Ian Henderson and Taj Merrett went down to Alex Heaton-Harrison’ rink 17-24.
Ron Cameron’s rink of Craig Skene, Chris Pearson and James Henry had a good win over Jamie McConachy’s rink 27-24.
Luke Wright’s rink of David Bateman, Len Searle and Kel Edwards were the big winners on the day, defeating David Littler’s rink 41-13.
Matty Brewer’s rink of Jason Armstrong, Barry Atchison and Jack Paase went down to Sean Logan’s rink 19-22.
Tomorrow the Magpies return home to Thornton Street to take on Simpson who only lost to Winchelsea’s top side by three shots last week.
The Magpies can expect another tough match.

Camperdown Magpies division two (2) team suffered its first loss of the season, going down to Lorne 88-108.
Fred Salmon’s rink of Kevin Russell, Harry Van Someren and Greg Edwards continued their great form with a 24-20 win over Michael Causon’s rink.
Michael Brebner’s rink of Vicki Brebner, John O’Donohue and Brad Wilson went down to Paul Staley’s rink 20-29.
Maria Van Someren’s rink of John Molan, Greg Molan and Keira Johnston went down to Paul Staley’s rink 20-29.
Maria Van Someren’s rink of John Molan, Greg Molan and Keira Johnston went down to Leigh McIlverney’s rink 21-36.
Peter Reilly’s rink of Andrew Anderson, Les Pearson and Greg Teal had another close one, tying with Brad Weetman’s rink 23-all.
Tomorrow division two (2) will have another road trip to take on Colac City 2.
A win is needed if the Magpies want to stay on top of the ladder going into the Christmas break.

Vicki Brebner will be the manager and Greg will drive the bus, leaving at 10.45am.
Division two (3) also had a tough day, going down to Colac 2 by 34 shots, 70-104.
Chris McLeod’s rink of Leanne Fitzgerald, Tim Spokes and Ron Simcox lost to Peter Colliehole’s rink 21-28.
Graeme Chamberlain’s rink of Lud Gungl, Kerry Henderson and Mick Mahony went down to Carmel Watson’s rink 15-21.
Glenn Winsall’s rink of Mark Winsall, Daryl O’Donohue and Nic Salagari lost to Ray Hutchinson’s rink 17-30.
Stan Adeney’s rink of Algie White, Kel Rundle and Ray Bourke lost to Trevor Nelson’s rink 17-25.
Tomorrow Magpies (3) take on Cobden at the Golf Green and with very experienced bowlers coming into the team for their first game this season, a win is on the cards against the fourth-placed Cobden.

The Magpies division three team travelled to Cobden last Saturday and found the home team too strong, going down 63-86.
Paul Brebner’s rink of Janet Molan, Sam Whytcross and Gerard Broderick went down to David Staggard’s rink 14-26.
Darren Page’s rink of Steve Lucas, Rene Wyles and Peter James went down to Janelle Rohan’s rink 18-19.
Ron Absalom’s rink of John Salau, Pam Atchison and Brent Noonan lost to Ann Scott’s rink 14-19.
Tom Hose’s rink of Paul Halloran, Deb Noonan and Donna Watts went down to Trevor Roberts’ rink 17-22.
Tomorrow division three will be at home at the Golf green to Colac City 3 who sits on top of the ladder.
A big effort will be required by the Magpies.

The Magpies division four team travelled to take on Colac 5 and continued their good form from the previous week to win 53-52.
Carol Wilson’s rink of Barney Dickson, Elaine Waterfall and Noelene Tolland were defeated by William Winchcomb’s rink 14-21.
Pip Robertson’s rink of Kathy Banks, Ruth Skene and Xavier Crabbe were the stars of the day with a 20-12 win over Edward Riches’ rink.
Gordon Weller’s rink of Norma Weller, Pat Scott and Andrew Whiteside played well and had a draw with Eva Hay’s rink 19 shots all.
Tomorrow division four will travel to Colac again to take on Colac 4 and will be looking to make it three consecutive wins.

Carol Wilson (s), Barney Dickson, Elaine Waterfall and Noelene Tolland.
Pip Roberson (s), Kathy Banks, Ruth Skene and Trish Taylor.
Bert Sloetjes (s), Gordon Weller, Norma Weller and Andrew Whiteside.
Carol Wilson is the manager and Pip Robertson will drive the bus, leaving at 11.15am.
The emergency is Pat Scott.
In division one midweek last Tuesday, the Magpies travelled to Colac and returned with a hard fought, nine shot win.
Peter Reilly’s rink of Barry Atchison, Vicki Brebner and Janet Molan defeated Dianne Hutchinson’s rink 25-19.
Craig Skene’s rink of Fred Salmon, John O’Donohue and Kel Edwards also had a good win over Ken Ezard’s rink 29-18.
Maria Van Someren’s rink of Len Searle, Chris Pearson and Greg Edwards battled hard all day but went down to Eva Hay’s rink 18-26.
The win sees the Magpies enter the Christmas break in second spot on the ladder, 22 points behind Winchelsea.
Midweek bowls will re-commence on January 6 when the Magpies division one take on Colac City at the Thornton Street green.
Division two mid-week took on top placed Cressy on the Golf green and had a loss, 61-72.
Ron Simcox’s rink of Les Pearson, Pam Atchison and Brad Wilson struggled all day, going down to John Spry’s rink 9-33.
Stan Adeney’s rink of Henry Henderson, Kerry Henderson and Noelene Tolland started slowly but came back to just go down to Neville Keating’s rink 24-26.
Barb Boyd’s rink of Rene Wyles, Wayne Henry and Elaine Waterfall was the standout of the day, defeating Moira Turner’s rink 28-13.
The win sees the Magpies enter the Christmas break fourth on the ladder.
Division two will travel to Colac City when bowls returns on January 6.
In division three the Magpies travelled to take on Colac City and found the opposition too good, going down 55-70.
Peter James’ rink of Gordon Weller, Val Coverdale and Deb Noonan went down to Gerard Norman’s rink 16-20.
Norma Weller’s rink of Donna Watts, Pat Scott and Ray Bourke lost to David Biddle’s rink 13-36.
Marg Stephens’ rink of Carol Wilson, Ruth Skene and Tim Spokes defeated Graham Harris’ rink 26-14.
The loss sees division three enter the break in third spot, just four points behind City.
Division three will be at home to Colac Central at Thornton Street on January 6.
In over 60s bowls last Tuesday the Magpies retained top spot with a 45-21 win over Timboon.
Tom Hose’s rink of David Coverdale and Pip Robertson defeated Jack Plozza’s rink 21-11.
Graeme Chamberlain’s rink of Paul Brebner and Gerard Broderick defeated Colin Gardner’s rink 24-10.
