Motorcyclists grateful for generosity

CAMPERDOWN and District Motorcycle Club members have extended their gratitude to the community for their donations after the recent Warrnambool Toy Run.

Over 100 bikes were a part of the ride from Warrnambool Rafferty’s, with 12 members of the Camperdown Motorcycle Club joining with fellow motorcycle enthusiasts for the event.

The ride saw motorcyclists travel to Koroit for a special lap around town before travelling to Port Fairy and making a return trip to Warrnambool, arriving at Lake Pertobe for a barbecue and some conversation.

Donations were collected by the Salvation Army at Lake Pertobe, with gold coins donations made to purchase food from the barbecue also going towards the appeal.

Club president Brett Murdie said he was pleased to see the community filled with the Christmas spirit during the campaign.

“From the Camperdown and District Motorcycle Club itself, we’d like to thank the IGA stores of Camperdown, Cobden and Terang for their support,” he said.

“We’d also like to thank Trevor Warnecke from the Warrnambool Toy Run for organising it all, and the Salvation Army for the great job they do making up all the packages and delivering them for Christmas.

“We also want to thank all the lovely people who opened their hearts and donated – it was really appreciated.

“Times are tough, and we really appreciate people helping out those less fortunate at this time of year.

“We enjoy doing it, and it was a good ride – it’s a good, fun ride, but it’s good to know you’re helping somebody while doing it.”
