THE Port Campbell Flower Show was a raving success, highlighting native plants which grow along the region’s iconic coast.

On October 4 and 5, the Port Campbell Arts Space was filled with flowers and visitors for its second year running the show.

Organiser Kylie Treble said it was great to have the chance to showcase native plants from the area.

“The aim of the flower show was pretty much to highlight the native vegetation we’ve got growing in and around Port Campbell, such as the vegetation from the National Park,” she said.

“Not collected from the National Park but the vegetation represented by the National Park.

“Also just knowing where to get plants and having people with likeminded interests coming together so that we can talk about what’s happening in our vegetation spaces, whether they be gardens or reserves, or the National Park.”

Ms Treble said many interested guests came through to check out the displays over the weekend.

“We didn’t actually measure how many people came but it would’ve been well over 100 people coming through over the two days,” she said.

“We had a section where local community members could bring either a single stem or multiple stem arrangements from their garden and we had a few entries in that, which was great.

“We’ve learnt a lot from the last year’s one and I think we had a bit of a better formula for this year which was great.

“The community supported it really well which was lovely.”

Ms Treble’s message to the community was simple – to keep supporting native flora and helping nature thrive.

“Keep growing beautiful natives so that we can make sure we’ve got support for pollinators and animals who rely on them,” she said.
