Rainfall welcomed, but more needed

THE district welcomed strong rainfall in some areas, but more is needed as falls remain lower than average.


Camperdown experienced 20.2mm of rainfall for the month of February.

While the figure was an improvement on last year’s total of 10.5mm, the total falls short of the long-term February average of 35.2mm.

The highest daily rainfall for Camperdown was recorded on February 12, where 10mm hit the ground over 24 hours.

To date, Camperdown’s rainfall tally sits at 22.7mm – this figure falls below the average of 80.3mm for the first two months of the year.

Meanwhile, Lismore saw 43mm of rainfall over the month.

The figure was significantly above the February 2025 total of 29mm and was also above the long-term average of 35.2mm.

February 28 – the final day of the month – saw the highest daily rainfall for Lismore with 21.8mm recorded.

Lismore’s total rainfall for 2026 currently sits at 48.2mm.

Derrinallum also saw an improvement on the previous year, with 20.6mm recorded over February.

The total was a slight improvement on the 16.2mm of rainfall recorded in February 2025 but was almost half of the long-term monthly average of 33.4mm.

The highest daily rainfall for Derrinallum was 6.2mm, which was recorded on February 12.

The total rainfall for Derrinallum 2026 currently sits at 19.2mm.
