Rockets call-up for Ben

POMBORNEIT'S Ben Whytcross earned a call up to the Barwon Rockets under 18 representative team on Monday for the Rockets match against Gippsland at Lara.

Whytcross trialled for the Rockets in Geelong last week and initially missed selection in the final 16 man squad.

With a wicketkeeping replacement needed after their first game on Sunday, Whytcross got the call up and kept wicket for all 50 overs as Gippsland plundered 7/279.

Barwon could only manage 93 all out in reply, Whytcross making one.

With losses in both games the Rockets campaign in the Victorian Country Cricket League under 18 competition has come to an end.
