Sessions to help residents Get Online

CORANGAMITE Shire Council’s libraries will be hosting workshops next week to encourage residents to improve their digital skills.

The workshops are part of Get Online Week, which runs from October 20-26.

An initiative of the Good Things Foundation, Get Online Week aims to close the digital divide and support people to feel safer and more confident online.

One workshop is an introduction to reading online, which will teach library members how to access and read ebooks and magazines, listen to podcasts and stream movies through their membership card.

A session will be held at the Camperdown Library (212 Manifold Street) on Thursday, October 23 from 3-4pm.

Derrinallum’s library at 44 Main Street will also host this workshop, which will also run on October 23 but will run from 1-2pm.

The second workshop is a digital skills workshop, where residents can learn skills such as updating emergency contacts, adding events to a digital calendar and updating details on government apps and websites.

Camperdown will host a session on Thursday, October 23 from 4-5pm, while Derrinallum’s digital skills session will run from 2-3pm.

Bookings for the workshops can be made online at events.humanitix.com/host/corangamite-moyne-library-service.
