Still not much reprieve

TERANG and Mortlake remained relatively dry throughout February despite a few days of heavy rain.

Mortlake endured another dry month throughout February before 18.6mm of rain fell on the final day of the month, February 28.

The figure brought the monthly total to 34.8mm of rain, above the long-term average of 30.6mm.

The result was a welcome increase from the 11.2mm of rain which fell over the same period in 2025.

The rainfall total for Mortlake through the first two months of the year sits at 35mm, below the 65.6mm long term average.

Meanwhile in Terang, the February result of 22mm fell below the long-term average of 36.7mm.

The highest daily rainfall throughout the month was February 12, with 9.2mm of rain hitting the ground.

The figure, despite being below average, was an increase over last February when just 12.4mm hit the ground.

The result brings the total rainfall for Terang throughout the first two months of the year to 23mm, below the long-term average of 76.1mm.
