Street artist comes to Skipton
THE wall of the Skipton Pool has become the canvas of a Melbourne artist this week as he begins work on a mural of native flora and fauna.

Jimmy Dvate began work on the mural on Wednesday, with the process expecting to take just over two weeks.
Mr Dvate is known for his murals of endangered Australian flora and fauna which can be seen on silos, water tanks and walls across Victoria.
He said he was invited to do the painting on the side of the pool facing the car parking area.
“I’m doing it based on native flora and fauna of the area, highlighting a few interesting species,” Mr Dvate said.
“I hope it brightens up the place and makes people more aware of what’s in their environment.
“They might see things in their backyard and they don’t know what they are.
“It’s about highlighting the interesting wildlife around here.”
Altered traffic conditions have been put in place on Blake Street to allow Mr Dvate to work safely, with residents invited to visit the pool to watch the artist at work.
He said the invitation for residents to watch him at work was part of the public art vibe.
“It’s the interaction with the public, and they get to see it all happening and feel like they’re part of it,” Mr Dvate said.
“Thanks to everyone from Skipton for having me here.
“I’ve been enjoying it so far, and I can’t wait for the rest of the next couple of weeks.”
The mural is expected to be completed around October 29.
