Strong field for Astrid Holm Cup
CAMPERDOWN Golf Club last Friday hosted its 32nd Astrid Holm Cup.
The event celebrates the enormous contribution Astrid has made as a founding member and club secretary for 42 years, and as ladies’ champion a record 15 times.
A full field of 25 teams of four, with clubs throughout the districts well represented.
Players travelled from as far afield as Apollo Bay, Chalambar (Ararat) and Gympie.
The format was stableford 4BBB with the best two scores to count on each hole.
The winners on 92 points were East Framlingham players Robyn McLeod, Gwenda Malseed, Barbara Hill and Leanne McCann.
Following a countback, the runners-up with 88 points were Marg White and Terri Sinnott from Camperdown who were joined by Jenny Meade of Terang and Cobden’s Sue Couch.
The best nine out of 47 points went to the East Framlingham team of Thelma Inverarity, Clare Clarke, Lynn Cooke and Jenny Mapleson.
The best nine in (45 points) went to Warrnambool’s Leanne Owen, Elizabeth Barrett, Andrea Occhipinti and Loretta O’Brien.
Nearest the pins: 2nd Jenny Meade (Terang), 9th golden hole Maree Finlay (Camperdown), 15th Heather Haberfield and 17th Leanne Ritchie.
