Success continues for local Dojo

MEMBERS of the Funakoshi Karate International Dojo have performed remarkably well at the recent national championships.

The team travelled to Melbourne last weekend to compete in the 36th annual National All Styles Championship and demonstrated discipline, humility and perseverance.

Competing in the veterans class, Jill Cole finished first in the female continuous sparring (51 year old+) and the female 51+ points sparring; second in female advanced continuous sparring and third in both team kata and female welterweight 60kg and under black belt points sparring.

Tobi Cole also put in a strong performance, finishing third in both team kata and state v state.

Peter Conroy was third in team kata with a consistent effort while for the first time in his tournament journey, Mark Cole stepped on to the national podium and achieved third place in the men’s black belt veterans (51+) points sparring.
