Veterans enjoy Camperdown course

CORANGAMITE Veteran Golfers enjoyed a stableford event at the Camperdown course earlier this month.

Forty-six players took to the greens on Tuesday, October 6.

After recent rains there was some doubt as to whether the course would be open, but it was to both players and carts.

Many thanks and congratulations to the Camperdown members on presenting their course in such fine condition.

The fairways, greens and surrounds were excellent and a true indication of the hard work put in.

Individual grade results were:

A grade – winner Rob Phillips (Birregurra) 35 points on countback from Andrew Burrows (Camperdown) 35 and in third place, Peter Revell (Colac) 32.

NAGA was Bruce Waterson (Warrnambool) on 21.

B grade – winner Charles Cowell (Warrnambool) 35 from Gary Lafferty (Camperdown) 34 and Vince Beekman (Peterborough) 33.

NAGA was Chris Currington (Colac) on 14.

Nearest the pins: 2nd Tom Moran (Camperdown), 9th and golden hole Daryl Johnston (Terang), 15th Marion Venn (Terang), 16th Gary Lafferty (Camperdown).

Members are reminded of the following upcoming events:

Tuesday, October 28 – stableford at Cobden Golf Club. A 9.30am rally for 10am shotgun start.

With the better golfing months fast approaching, and all courses coming into top condition, now’s the perfect time to get out and play golf.

The Corangamite Veterans Golfers Association is open to anyone aged 55 and over who is a member of an affiliated golf club with a Golf Australia handicap.

To get involved, contact your club’s veterans liaison officer – or just turn up and enjoy the fun.
